The QtVision ChangeLog has been updated.
April 24, 2003
The LAUNDRY document of QtVision (part of the CVS repository) is now available on this website. Its purpose is to present some tasks (or bugfixes) that need to be done before version 1.0 of QtVision can be released or things that can or should be added to QtVision after release 1.0.
The QtVision ChangeLog has been updated as well.
March 26, 2003
The CVS Information page has been updated once more (bug fix).
March 24, 2003
The CVS Information page has been updated. Some packages that have been listed there previously are not required anymore which makes compilation much easier and faster. QtVision is now mentioned first on the page because we want to encourage users to try out QtVision instead of the old KWinTV. Several other details concerning QtVision have been updated as well.

The QtVision ChangeLog has been updated. As you can see the V4L plugin made good progress and you should check this out if you haven’t done so already. You can now choose between the XVideo and V4L plugins when using QtVision.

The file config.h.bot does not exist anymore in kdenonbeta so it has been deleted from the CVS Information Page. The QtVision ChangeLog has been updated as well.
October 8, 2002
The CVS Information Page has been updated to match the current compile process for QtVision. The specification of the KDE_3_0_BRANCH tag for the kde-common module is not correct anymore it seems.

Again, development of QtVision shows impressive speed, see the updated ChangeLog. And you can be sure that there is more to come.

Amazing pace! That’s what you can see when you look at QtVision’s ChangeLog. Development of QtVision is making a lot of progress at the moment with a lot of new features added, bugs fixed, and sometimes some new bugs added
. Well, it is impressive, to say the least, and if you want to keep up with the current speed of development you would have to update your CVS checkout on a daily basis. That’s why keeping this web page up to date is quite impossible at the moment…

The rewrite of KWinTV – QtVision – is making good progress. New features have been added, others have been improved, and bugs have been fixed. To provide a better overview of the changes to QtVision I have now put the ChangeLog of QtVision online. I will try to keep it up to date with the version in CVS.
You can get the latest version of QtVision out of CVS. See our CVS Information page for details.

The first alpha version of the KWinTV rewrite has been released! This release, “Alpha 1,” is not considered to be a stable release. It serves several purposes including:
# Demonstration of the upcoming design
# Provide a relatively usable package to help some users who have had difficulty with KWinTV since upgrading to KDE 3.0
# Provide developers with a working base system so that they can help port to other platforms, write plugins, or work directly on the code, graphics and documentation
# Determine the suitability of the current design and plugins
There are no binaries of “Alpha 1″ available, you will have to compile it yourself! Please also consult the page(s) about the rewrite and downloads.

The CVS Information page has been changed to reflect the latest changes to the CVS repository (“Makefile.am” no longer exists in kdenonbeta). The screenshot of QtVision has been replaced by a new one with a better TV picture.
June 21, 2002
Thanks to George I was able to add a recent screenshot of QtVision to the Introduction and the Re-Write pages.

www.kwintv.org got a new design, making it easier to navigate and find things – hopefully. Most of the news you will find here has been copied from the old version of the site so don’t be surprised if some of the older information in here is not valid anymore.
I hope you like this new layout and design which obviously has some similarities to the KDE website. I hope that’s okay with the KDE guys. Comments, suggestions, and ideas are welcome, of course. Just send me an .

The rewrite of KWinTV is making great progress! If all goes as planned you should see an alpha release soon. Due to the progress of the rewrite and the amount of work going into this completely new application the development of the “old” KWinTV has virtually stopped.
Since we still receive a lot of bug or problem reports concerning older versions of KWinTV we recommend using the most recent stable version (0.8.11 or 0.8.12 CVS) and/or waiting for the rewrite to be released in alpha form.
April 28, 2002
Our Download section now contains some more specific information on how to get KWinTV 0.8.12 out of CVS and to compile it for KDE3.
March 17, 2002
KWinTV (version 0.8.12 in CVS) has recently been ported to KDE3. You can get it out of CVS, see our Download section.
March 14, 2002
The rewrite of KWinTV has started. George Staikos announced today the creation of the new “kwintv3″ CVS tree in kdenonbeta. Please see the KWinTV mailing list for details.
January 28, 2002
The Download section has been updated to include the possibility of getting KWinTV out of CVS. In addition, the ToDo section has been updated to reflect the TODO list of KWinTV’s CVS code. The introduction has also been updated and restructured.
January 13, 2002
Some people experienced problems when starting KWinTV 0.8.10 or 0.8.11. One reason for this has been identified and fixed in current CVS. A patch is also available, please see the KWinTV mailing list for details.
A work-around for this problem is to edit the kwintvrc file (usually in $HOME/.kde/share/config/). In group [CONFIG__path_to_somewhere] add or change the following line to read: newStyleDataDir=true.
January 08, 2002
KWinTV 0.8.11 has been released! It contains bug fixes, some new icons, and other improvements. Our Download section tells you where and how to get this new version.
December 17, 2001
We still receive reports from people trying to run KWinTV 0.8.9 who experience crashes, especially when they want to exit the application. If you have the same problem please try KWinTV 0.8.10 or higher (the latest version is 0.8.11/CVS). There’s also a recommended patch for KWinTV 0.8.10 that can be found on George’s download page (see our Download section).
December 8, 2001
The new KWinTV WebSite is now online at http://www.kwintv.org/! I have separated it out of my private WebSite and it may get its own design as soon as I have some more time (or when a designer provides me with some better images/buttons
.
December 8, 2001
Debian packages of KWinTV version 0.8.10 are available now. Please check our Downloads section for details.
December 2, 2001
A new Mailing List for KWinTV has been created. If you have problems with KWinTV on your system or you would like to ask any other question or post a bug report, please subscribe to this mailing list by going to the following URL: http://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kwintv
This list is for both developers and users, and patches, as always, are welcome.

November 25, 2001
Meanwhile I have finished the implementation of the new channel file format based on KConfig. It is already included in the CVS version of KWinTV.
November 9, 2001
To some people it might look as if KWinTV development came to a halt again (no new releases since KWinTV 0.8.9) so George asked me to inform you that he is still maintaining the code of KWinTV but didn’t have time to release anything new yet due to his KDE 3 duties.
He still accepts patches and applies them to CVS and will be returning to KWinTV focus soon. You can send him any patches you might have by .
November 9, 2001
I am currently working on the implementation of a new channel/programs storage format, based on KConfig. This should make parsing of these files much easier, faster, and easier to understand. I have a first working implementation but there is still a lot of stuff that needs to be done.
November 9, 2001
You can get the latest KWinTV source code out of KDE CVS (KDE_2_2_BRANCH). It is part of the kdenonbeta package. For further instructions on how to set up CVS and get the source code, see the KDE Web Site. Don’t worry, it’s really easy
