Re-Write

About The Re-Write

There is a lot of activity and work going into the re-write of KWinTV at the moment. Since the “old” KWinTV still has some problems and there are a lot of feature requests coming in, a decision has been made to start from scratch and build a completely new application.

You can find this new application — named “QtVision” for the time being — in CVS, of course. Our CVS Info Page has more about how to get it out of CVS and compile it on your system. Note: QtVision only supports KDE3!

The plug-in architecture of the KWinTV Re-Write makes it possible to extend the application in many different ways, and there are some plug-ins already available. For example, there is an XVideo plug-in, an OSS mixer plug-in, several channel file plug-ins, etc. Some of these plug-ins still need work, and of course there are a lot of plug-ins that still need to be created yet. If you want to contribute to the project, how about a nice plug-in_! :-)

And here is a (rather old) screenshot of QtVision in action:

There is an alpha release of QtVision available, see the Download page on how to get it. We also have the Release Notes of “Alpha 1″ available which you may want to read before trying it. However, we recommend getting the latest version of QtVision out of CVS instead because the alpha release is very old and the current CVS code is much more advanced!
